Scotland Home 2024/25
Undeniably striking, yet unquestionably Scottish, the Scotland Home Shirt for the 2024/25 season stands as true embodiment of national pride and historical significance, with many aspects of its design harkening back to Scotland’s roots.
The Home Shirt boasts a striking white collar and cuffs, enhanced by vibrant blue and green accents that add both elegance and energy.
The inside neck label features a pattern inspired by the architecture of the national stadium, set against a navy blue backdrop, with the motto ‘As One’ proudly displayed on the right-hand side
The Scotland flag is subtly displayed on the chest, harmonizing with the cuffs and contrasting beautifully against the white collar, sponsor logos, and crests.
Now, while that’s all well and good, you might be wondering why Finn Russell, Duhan van der Merwe, and Rory Darge are holding swords in their promotional photos.
Well actually, this is known as a ‘Claymore‘, that draws its parallels with the Scottish Gaelic of ‘claidheamh-mòr’ (that’s ‘large sword’ to me and you).
As a symbol steeped in the rich history of Scotland, the Claymore was famously weilded by none other than King James I, whose effective use of the Claymore made it one of the symbols of strength and national Scottish pride.
So, what does this historical weapon have to do with the 2024/25 Home Shirt?
Look closely at the pin striping, and you’ll notice a series of subtly placed Claymores, chosen by Scotland’s players themselves, symbolizing the strength of the team and its supporters.
On the reverse, the shirt pays tribute to 100 years of Murrayfield Stadium.
An embossed graphic near the hem commemorates Scotland’s largest stadium, the venue for all Six Nations Championship home games and some Rugby World Cup matches.
In line with Macron’s commitment to sustainability, the new Home Kit is crafted from “Eco Fabric“, a polyester material entirely derived from recycled and post-consumer plastic, reducing environmental impact while maintaining high performance and durability.
Scotland Away 2024/25
You’ve seen the Home kit; now get ready for the Away!
Breaking away from the traditional brilliant white and navy of the 2023/24 season, the latest Scotland Away kit is designed to impress. Macron has introduced a striking gradient pattern at the heart of their 2024 design.
Light blues seamlessly fade into brilliant whites, complemented by navy collars and cuffs. These cuffs are sublimated with ‘Alba gu bràth,’ which translates to “Scotland Forever” in Scottish Gaelic.
On the back, the Away Kit dares to be different by showcasing two crossed Claymore swords instead of featuring the Murrayfield Stadium.
This design echoes the Home Shirt and highlights the importance of the Claymore as a symbol of Scotland’s strength and national pride, which they will carry with them into their Away games on the international stage.
